It's a bird! It's a plane! No!! It's Superman: The Movie!Rhino unveils the first-ever release of composer/conductor John Williams' entire score from the hugely popular 1978 Warner Bros. film, performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. This two-CD deluxe reissue also features 40 additional minutes of music that was omitted from the soundtrack's original vinyl version!
Starring Marlon Brando and Gene Hackman, newcomer Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel, and Margot Kidder as his girlfriend (Metropolis Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane), the Richard Donner-directed flick opened in late '78. It made Reeve an overnight star and spawned three sequels as well as the motion picture, Supergirl.
Superman's big, bold, and brassy music was one of the reasons why the movie's popularity took off faster than a speeding bullet. And over 20 years later, we're proud to give the soundtrack the stellar Rhino treatment that it deserves.
