Welcome to "The K-Metal from Krypton," a 2003-2007 restoration of an unpublished twenty-six page
Superman comic-book story written by Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel and originally illustrated by the Joe Shuster Studio in 1940.
Some of this online presentation consists of restored versions of the original Shuster Studio artwork. Since only a few pages of the original art are known to have survived, most of our pages are all-new artwork drawn by contemporary artists Jon Bogdanove, Angel Criado, Shane Foley, and Bob Rivard, re-illustrating Jerry Siegel's 1940 script in a style matching the original artwork.
This site contains two articles describing the history of the comic - "The Most Important Superman Story Ever Written" explains its importance and some of the significant first-time events that take place within it, and "Sixty-Five Years in the Making," which describes the long history behind the story's creation, non-publication, re-discovery, and eventual restoration.
Also included on the site is the restored comic itself, to which new pages were added as they were completed. Posted updates were announced through the K-Metal RSS feed.
