Actor Tommy Bond passed away on September 24 due to complications from heart disease.  He was 79.

Better known as the bully "Butch" in the "Our Gang" and "The Little Rascals" comedies, he also played Jimmy Olsen in two Superman movie serials (1946 and 1948).

After graduating from college in 1951, Tommy Bond quit acting and went into television directing and broadcasting work in the Southern California area before retiring in 1991.

Incidentally, Tommy Bond turned down the chance to reprise his role as Jimmy Olsen in "The Adventures of Superman" television series (1952).  His wife Pauline (a former Miss California) also turned down the role of Miss Kitty in the 1955 "Gunsmoke" TV series.

(Note:  news reports credit Tommy Bond with Superman movie serials filmed in 1946 and 1948, but that seems to be at odds with https://www.supermanthroughtheages.com/fos/thescreen/ -- also, "Atom Man vs. Superman" was in 1950.)

Tommy Bond was fantastic as Jimmy Olsen and he will be sorely missed.

I don't know if his homepage is still active or not, but there is an archive of it here.

"The bottom line involves choices.  Neither gods nor humans have ever stood calmly in a minefield forever.  Good or evil, they are bound to choose.  And when they do, you will see the truth of all that motivates us.  As a thinking being, you have the obligation to choose.  If the fate of all mankind were in your hands, what would your decision be?  As a writer and an artist, I've drawn my answer."   - Jack Kirby
