Christopher Kent (birth-name Lor-Zod) is son of General Zod and Ursa. He was conceived in the Phantom Zone. (There are remnants of a station in the Zone where phantoms can become material, thus Chris' conception was possible.) Chris is now being raised by Superman and Lois. He also recently met Batman and Robin.

Many people want others to accept their opinions as fact. If enough people accept them as fact then it gives the initial person or persons a feeling of power. This is why people will constantly talk about something they hate—they want others to feel the same way. It matters to them that others perceive things the same way that they do.

This seems one of the most contrived plots I've heard. Did Chris realise who his natural parents are? Is it planned that he'll find out and turn against Superman?

Due to scheduling issues, the conclusion of the First Son storyarc has been delayed until next year.

However, if you are reading Kurt Busiek's Superman title, you should be able to figure out what's what as the current storyline in that book takes place after Last Son.

I've been reading the titles and like the way this has been handled.  To answer the questions, yes, Chris knew that his birth parents were Zod and Ursa.  It has certainly not been presented that he is a "mole" of some sort, in fact he seems to have been even more horrified by his parents than than the average person is.

The introduction of Chris Kent has been presented like the introduction of a family - Clark and Lois figuring out how to get adoption papers in order, etc.  I don't recall whether it was Clark or Lois who came up with the name Chris, but it seems to me that in the "real world," (ie, here on Earth-Prime) the name is a tribute to Christopher Reeve.

I don't know if the character is going to still be around after the final chapter of "Last Son" comes out, but I hope he is.  Clark seems to like having a son and I think the Superman titles would benefit by the move.

Chris Kent/Lor-Zod appears to be a victim of child abuse. I would not want Zod to show me where my loyalties lie. Cry

Mon-El's appearance is the best part of "Last Son" and makes perfect sense. In the future, I hope someone fleshes out his possible involvement with Lor-Zod. Mon-El could have been Lor-Zod's protector or hero to emulate in the Phantom Zone, just a thought.

DC completely mishandled the scope of this story. Instead of Amazon's Attack and Countdown, DC should have concentrated on Last Son and the Sinestro Corps War, both written by Geoff Johns (although Infinite Crisis still stinks  Cheesy). Anytime, Kryptonians invade the Earth it should be a real big deal not a publishing nightmare. Oh well, live and learn, I guess.

If true, that is a really nice gesture.

Does Chris, being of Kryptonian descent but having an unusual start in life, have super-powers? Being born to parents from thephamton zone, does he have more developed telepathetic powers?

I was wondering if it was planned that he'd discover his heritage and turn against Superman.

His powers seem to be of the normal Kryptonian sort, no sign of anything telepathic.  When he first showed up, he was in a space ship and spoke Kryptonian.  Superman was the only person who could understand and communicate with him.

He already knew his heritage when he arrived - it was more like he had been an abused child who was terrified that Zod and Ursa were trying to get him back.  With Clark and Lois, he seems to be learning that life (and people) can be kind.  This is the kind of message that is really good to see in a Superman book.
