Oddly enough, Odens blod (in other words, Odin's blood) was a name for a strong alcoholic drink flavoured with St. John's Wort. In Norse mythology, St. John's Wort is said to have sprung from Odin's blood when he was gored by a wild boar. I grew up in Sweden and never heard anybody swear by Odin's blood, but distilled alcohol flavoured with St. John's Wort has certainly passed my lips; it's very good, though a bit medicinal.
