How many invulnerable objects from Krypton and other red sun/heavy gravity worlds ended up on yellow sun worlds? Just how durable did they end up being? I mean, did we ever see a Kryptonian rip a piece of a red sun paper on a yellow sun world?

I know in Superboy #162, the Phantom Zone projector gets stuck to a neutron star and one of the Phantom Zoners (escaped) begins pulling on it. It broke in half with quite a bit of effort.

In the Bronze Age, on a Legion adventure that ended in a fight against the Fatal Five, Tharok created elaborate death traps for all of the Legion members. The Superboy death trap involved him being placed in the middle of this ball, and there were several huge pistons which pressed on the outside of the cyclinder of metal and made it.

The catch was that the entire device was made of metal from a Red Sun world, meaning it was every bit as tough as Superboy. Superboy eventually went all out and with a supreme effort broke out.

Another question that's been rolling around in my head is this... Shoulden't still be that much tougher than, say, Kryptonian flesh on a yellow sun world? Or does being organic, with a metabolic system based off of yellow sun energy, make you that much more efficent and powerful?

Generally it was suggested that things from Red Sun worlds become PROPORTIONATELY tougher. That is to say, Superman could probably tear a piece of paper from a Red Sun world, but it is doubtful anybody else could. Remember, King Krypton was stronger than Superman was, because on Krypton, as a gorilla, King Krypton was stronger than Superman. Likewise, Superboy is stronger than Krypto, as a boy is always stronger than a dog.

How then, to explain the crushy ball trap in "Escape from the Fatal Five" (that's the story that you mentioned) in ADVENTURE COMICS #365 (1968)?

I mean, Superboy tore that thing like paper when he went all out despite the fact it was metal from a Red Sun world. The reason may perhaps be because of Krypton's higher gravity, living things get proportionately stronger when in lighter gravity conditions. Thus, despite the fact that Superboy could not tear metal on Krypton with his bare hands, he could because the lower gravity of earth (and, presumably, Talok VII, where this took place) gives him the proportionate strength to do so.

As nonliving matter does not need muscles to move on gravity conditions, living things from Krypton can perform feats of strength against even matter from Red Sun worlds.

Hmm, that does make sense.

Thank ya, Julian. Smiley

Any instances of other indestructable objects from other worlds Pre-C?

The most famous case was "Jor-El greatest inventions"

With the death of Krypton now perhaps only hours away, Jor-El placed some of his greatest inventions inside a massive vault with a combination lock in the hope that they might somehow "survive to benefit other men even though our own world must die!"

Yeah, we were just talking about those in the "Kryptonian Superweapons trapped on earth" thread. Though just WHO Jor-El thought a "Puzzle Ray" would benefit is anybody's guess.

As I recall, Superman once discovered a cache of three weapons from Krypton, which turned out to have been invented by Superman's evil cousin, Kru-El, instead of Jor-El.

In January-February 1952 Jor-El's vault of great inventions, which had been hurled into outer space by the force of the cataclysm that destroyed Krypton, is drawn to Earth by a "magnet-ray machine" devised by the diabolical Lex Luthor (S No. 74/1: "The Lost Secrets of Krypton!").
