Still, Superman does have a touch of the hubris that he sometimes exhibits. He said he wouldn't lie to Lois, but he DID lie, in the "never better" after the sun-bath comment.  I know he's doing it for her sake, but she'll resent him all the more when she finds out...which she will.

I've always liked that paradoxical part of Superman, which was unwittingly brought to the fore in the first movie. "I never lie," he tells Lois earnestly, presumably forgetting that he spends half his time pretending to be someone else.

I didn't know that the Fortress of Solitude originated in Doc Savage. In fact, I don't know much about Doc Savage at all, you don't get much pulp stuff in Europe. Thanks for pointing that out!

Maybe it's splitting hairs, but Lois usually just comes out and accuses Clark, "You're Superman!", where Clark might respond, "You're being ridiculous, Lois...you think I'm Superman?".... instead of, "Are you Superman?"..."Of course not, Lois. I am not Superman."

It's more of an omission, than lying.

At least, in my opinion.

Well, I think lying by omission is still lying, and so do many of my ex-girlfriends. But when Clark suddenly runs away and says "Oh... Feel dizzy... Must lie down..." -- well, that's just downright lying! Be honest, Clark. You don't feel dizzy and you're not going to lie down. You're going to change into Superman and do superstuff.

I can't heap enough praise on this series. I went an hour out of my way to buy the second issue from a comic shop, and now I've gone to the DC website and subscribed to it.

The way the story is being introduced and set up reminds me of Supreme: The Story of the Year. However, both series have the same inspiration, so it makes sense.
