The steam engine, I think it was a 4-6-2 Pennsylvania loco, and the tender were pink...cars were lemon yellow, robin's egg blue, etc...

But I wonder if classic "romance"-themed comics was any better, did "girls" just want good stories as well?

Sandman was very popular among women, for example.

Girls and Women want great stories that don't threat women like sex objects and or something to kill in a morbid way so that frustrated nerds can feel better about themselves.
