Exactly...in a time far away, there were no power levels like a video game assassin adding weapons to an arsenaL...THERE WAS ACTUALLY storytelling...
I remember when Superman batled the "element enemies" in the mid 60s, a space pirate (Amalak?) selected earthlings to give powers of earth, water, air, and fire...he accidentaly picked Clark Kent to be the fire monster and the blast knocked Superman's power off to the point where the element enemies were seriously close to killing him...Superman used his wits and only the pirate's latter attempts to control the enemies by direct remote control gave Superman the time to gather his wits and defeat them...it was his wits and by fortune that he prevailed...
Like life, a struggle, not fair, not predictable, but coped with through intelligence and more often than not, a POSITIVE attitude...
I rarely pay money to read angst, and when I was a kid, that would have been really dumb...
