As we know, there was a long-standing tradition in the comics (not so much anymore) of Superman meeting people whose names contained the letters "LL", and often going on to have them play an important part in his life.

Just for fun, I recently tried to come up with a complete list of all the notable LL characters. I have seen many lists of the LLs in various places, but none of them seemed to be definitive.

I wondered just which characters needed to be included. Often it was a judgment call. Anyone who plays a major role in at least one Superman story in his own books seems to make the most sense. In the case of other super-heroes, I included them only if Superman is a member of the same hero team they are. In the case of super-viLLains, I did not include them if they were mainly another hero's enemy, even if Superman has encountered them at least once (like GoriLLa Grodd).

This is what I came up with... if anyone can think of any others, then by all means, feel free to contribute!

Double L initials:

Lois Lane
Lana Lang
Lori Lemaris
Lex Luthor
Lara Lor-Van
Lyla Ler-Rol
Luma Lynai
Lightning Lad
Lightning Lass aka Light Lass
Lightning Lord
Lewis Lang
Linda Lee (Danvers)
Lucy Lane
Lady Lunar
Lesla Lar
Liri-Lee
Lydia Long

Names that contain double Ls:

MetaLLo
Kristin WeLLs
SaLLy Selwyn
ELLa Lane
BiLL Henderson
The Atomic SkuLL
SKULL
MaxweLL Jensen (the Parasite)
KuLL- Ex
KendaLL Kent
Barry ALLen (the Flash)
WaLLy West (the other Flash)
OLLie Queen (Green Arrow)
Carter and Shiera HaLL (Hawkman and Hawkwoman)
Ryan LoweLL
WiLLie Fawcett (Captain Thunder)
The YeLLow Peri
Thaddeus MaxweLL
The ALL-Star Squadron
The town of SmaLLviLLe

From television:

Lionel Luthor
Chloe SuLLivan

Honorable mention for a former LL:

Lena Thorul

So far, that's all I've got for the Superman LL canon.[/b]

Pretty sure Lana Lan's dad was one as well although he was always referred to as "Professor Lang".

Strangest LL of All- a Nazi swastika that fell apart and clonked some Nazi baddies on the head in the shape of "LL"s in "Jimmy Olsen's D-Day Adventure"!

Lucinda Lawrence - Lois Lane's double who was a witch in Salem Mass. in 1692 and helped a time-travelling Jimmy Olsen out of trouble.  (boy, that almost reads like a Supermanica entry!)
