I always assumed this series was meant to show a more post-Crisis-ish Superman (given it's the first animated series made after Byrne's reboot, and the Superman-Photo-Album flashbacks seemed more post-Crisis than pre-Crisis in tone to me [no Superboy])... though I haven't seen it in years.

The series ran for one season only on CBS in 1988-89.

Not really the Byrne S.I.N.O didn't have any powers growing up and was born on Earth NOT Krypton. Clearly that is not the case here. The film version had a bigger impact on this series than his Man of Steel comics

It was a combo of Pre-Crisis, Post-Crisis, & Movie Superman. The Pre-Crisis elements like Clark was never a high-school football player but Lex was the Donald Trump Post-Crisis version of himself. Lex had a female sidekick/secretary similar to Ms. Tessmarker from the movies(though I prefer that amazon Mercy,Wooza!!). My favorite episode was the team-up with Wonder Woman. Was the Ruby-Spears Superman able to breath in space? I just can't remember...

The most Byrne-ish thing about the series (to my admittedly hazy recollection) was the business man Luthor.

Also, this is my first post here. Hello.
