The STRANGE DEATH of SUPERBOY!
"I am a big Superman fan who detested the Crisis and its impact on the
character. It's so good to know there are others out there who share my
respect for the older stories.
"My favorite part of your site is definitely the
on-line comics. I agree
with your selection of stories for the most part (certainly better than any
of the anthologies DC has published), but I notice that you're missing one of
my favorites: Superboy #161, published in 1969. In it, Clark has been pushed
around by a school bully once too often, and finally decides to give up his
powers so he can lead a normal life and not have to pretend to be a weakling.
"Naturally, he soon realizes how much Superboy is needed and has to risk his
life to get his powers back. A similar premise would be used
years later in
Superman II, but I like the idea that this very human dilemma occurred
early on in his career. It's a very well-written piece."
