The New Dollar

In 1998, the dollar coin advisory committee recommended that the new one-dollar coin feature the likeness of "Liberty, represented by a Native American woman, inspired by Sacajawea and other Native American women."

Lady Liberty has long been featured on U.S. coins and her first appearance on the one-dollar coin was in 1794.
