Professor Pepperwinkle

A kind-hearted and eccentric inventor who has lived alternately within Metropolis proper and later in an outlying suburb of the city.

The professor first encounters Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and Perry White in 1955 when he enters the offices of the Daily Planet in order to announce his latest invention.

Some of his better-known works include:

• "The Anti-Magneto Gravitational Register," a device which causes disorientation in people by seemingly reversing the effects of gravity;
• A transportation cabinet which can transmit people over telephone lines;
• An anti-memory vapor;
• A robot in the shape of an iron mechanical man;
• A method of converting cider, peanuts, and a combination of certain metals into pure gold.
