Title: How Superman Ends the War Post by: Great Rao on December 09, 2005, 08:50:04 PM As mentioned in this thread (https://www.supermanthroughtheages.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2097), here is the original "How Superman Ends the War" 2-pager as it was published in Look Magazine back in February, 1940. I've also included the one page intro article (https://www.supermanthroughtheages.com/tales2/endsthewar/?page=1) which, as far as I know, has never been reprinted:

What a great find, and I like it better with that odd but cool color printing than the other version. Title: Re: How Superman Ends the War Post by: Great Rao on December 10, 2005, 01:26:47 AM Thanks!
Check out the new cover I made (https://www.supermanthroughtheages.com/tales2/endsthewar/), using this one (http://www.goantiques.com/search/images.jsp?id=896925) as a source. :s: Title: Re: How Superman Ends the War Post by: Klar Ken T5477 on December 10, 2005, 01:49:04 AM You flattened it!
Rita's gonna be ... Mighty TOR!  (Now thats what I call a triple word score!) Title: Re: How Superman Ends the War Post by: Captain Marbles on December 10, 2005, 06:24:09 AM I know I should probably comment on the social and historical significance of this particular story, but I just can't help but notice that Superman isn't wearing any pants!
Title: Re: How Superman Ends the War Post by: Great Rao on December 10, 2005, 07:56:16 AM Now we know why DC re-colored this thing.
:s: Title: Re: How Superman Ends the War Post by: MatterEaterLad on December 10, 2005, 09:51:12 PM Yeah, Supes in shorts is a little unnerving... 8)
Cool to see the coloring though... Title: Re: How Superman Ends the War Post by: TELLE on December 11, 2005, 03:41:55 AM Everything is beautiful! I would never have guessed the cover was improved. Great work! I love the whole article --the pandering tone, the great photos. The whole thing just goes to prove, 65 years later we still like our fantasy raw!
Quick question: did Supes ever go up against Joe Stalin again? During the Cold War, say? (He's not in the TGSB) Title: Re: How Superman Ends the War Post by: Great Rao on December 11, 2005, 01:20:00 PM Quote from: "TELLE" I would never have guessed the cover was improved. Great work! Thanks! You should check out one of my other improved covers: (https://www.supermanthroughtheages.com/a/electric/blue-1.gif) Quote Quick question: did Supes ever go up against Joe Stalin again? During the Cold War, say? (He's not in the TGSB) Not that I know of. I suspect that aside from a couple of Fleischer cartoons and a handful of comic book covers, Superman actually saw very little action in WWII. I think he pretty much sat-out the Cold War as well, except for letting the U.S. government test their atomic bombs on him. If he did go up against him, it was probably a thinly-disguised version of him. :s: Title: Re: How Superman Ends the War Post by: TELLE on December 12, 2005, 02:42:34 AM Well, he certainly went up against quite a few atomic spies & "foreign agents" during the 50s and 60s. And he visited the Kremlin in the prose epic by Samuel Hawkins celebrating Superboy's debut elsewhere on this site (Taking Time).
