Title: Superman 653 (spoilers): I eat my words
Post by: Daughter of Krypton on June 16, 2006, 11:15:51 PM
I'm sure many of you have been wondering why my head has become so large.  Well, I've been eating my words, but I haven't been able to swallow them, so they've been filling up my brain and gotten it all inflated.

Which words?  My words of criticism regarding a recent issue of Superman, where I vowed to stop reading the Superman books.  Of course, I really kept right on reading them - including the latest issue, Superman 653.

I've got to say - it was absolutely incredible.  The characterization of everybody - Superman, Lois, Lex, Jimmy - are all spot-on perfect.  Seeing Jimmy risk his own well-being to help his pal Superman, seeing Lex's false justifications and his twisted hatred of Superman - and seeing Superman call him on it!  Just perfect stuff.

I don't think I've ever seen Lex in a giant, Kryptonite transformer-robot before!  Sheer genius.  The whole thing was brilliant.

Kurt, if you're still here, thanks.  Fantastic job.

I really like how Lex always brings himself down due to his obsession with Superman. Even with Superman gone he didn't accomplish everything he claimed he would do (such as curing cancer and ending famine)--he just switched his hatred from Superman to Metropolis. It kind of makes you wonder if Lex needs someone to hate in life, someone to challenge him.
